Privacy Policy

TL;DR: SixSeven uses automatic speech recognition by default, which processes speech on-device when available and may use server-assisted processing on some devices. We don't collect, store, or transmit any audio data or personal information. When server-assisted processing is used, your device's platform provider (Apple or Google) handles the audio according to their privacy policies.
Overview
SixSeven ("67 Detector") is designed with privacy as a core principle. The app uses speech recognition to detect when someone says "six seven." By default, the app uses Automatic mode, which lets your device's operating system choose the best recognition method — on-device processing when available, with server-assisted processing as a fallback. You can also choose to force on-device only or server-assisted only in Settings.
Data We Do NOT Collect
- Audio recordings — We never record, store, or transmit any audio
- Speech transcriptions — We never access or store transcriptions. In Automatic and On-Device modes, speech processing stays on your device. In Server-Assisted mode, audio is sent to Apple/Google for processing per their privacy policies.
- Personal information — We don't collect names, emails, or any identifying data
- Location data — We don't access your location
- Contacts or photos — We don't access any other device data
Microphone Usage
SixSeven requires microphone access to listen for speech. The microphone is:
- Only active when you press the Listen button
- Only active while the app is open and in the foreground
- Processed using speech recognition according to your selected mode (see below)
- Never recorded or stored by us
You can choose between Normal and Noisy Room microphone modes. You can also select your preferred recognition mode in Settings:
- Automatic mode (default) — The system chooses the best available method. On-device processing is used when available; server-assisted processing is used as a fallback on devices or configurations where on-device recognition is not supported. This is the recommended setting for the best balance of compatibility and privacy.
- On-Device Only mode — Forces all speech processing to stay on your device. No audio is transmitted anywhere. Note: this may not work on all devices (e.g., some older iPads or iPhones without on-device recognition support).
- Server-Assisted mode — Audio is sent to Apple (iOS) or Google (Android) servers for processing. This can improve accuracy in noisy environments but means your audio data is handled by the platform provider according to their privacy policies: Apple's Privacy Policy | Google's Privacy Policy.
Data Stored on Your Device
The following data is stored locally on your device only:
- Detection count and session statistics
- Your app preferences and settings (sensitivity, sound selection, mic mode, etc.)
- In-app purchase records (managed by Apple)
This data is not transmitted to us or any third party.
Global Counter (Firebase)
SixSeven includes an optional global community counter that shows how many "six seven" detections have been made by all users worldwide. This feature uses Google Firebase Firestore to maintain an anonymous aggregate count.
- Only a numeric detection count is sent — no audio, no personal data, no device identifiers
- The counter is fully anonymous — we cannot identify individual users or devices
- Firebase may collect basic analytics data (crash reports, app usage metrics) as described in Firebase's Privacy Policy
Advertising
SixSeven uses Google AdMob to display interstitial ads. AdMob may collect certain device information for ad targeting purposes as described in Google's Privacy Policy. You can remove all ads by purchasing the "Remove Ads" option within the app.
On iOS, the app uses Apple's App Tracking Transparency framework and will ask for your permission before any tracking occurs. You can change this at any time in your device's Settings.
In-App Purchases
In-app purchases are processed by Apple (iOS) or Google (Android) through their respective app stores. We do not have access to your payment information. Please refer to Apple's Privacy Policy or Google's Privacy Policy for details.
Share Feature
SixSeven includes a "Share Score" feature that lets you share your detection stats with friends. Sharing is entirely optional and initiated by you — no data is shared automatically.
Children's Privacy
SixSeven does not knowingly collect any personal information from children. The app does not require any account creation or personal data to function.

We may update this privacy policy from time to time. Any changes will be posted on this page with an updated date.
